Fox’ Turkey Meatier Bites
Our senior greyhound Fox has been prescribed a low fat diet by his veterinarians to address intestinal issues. He’s feeling better but can’t have his usual treats, so I created this low fat recipe for him. He thinks they’re delicious!

Ingredients
  • 1pound extra lean ground turkey (98% lean, 2% fat)
  • 1/3 cup Laura Lynn egg whites (or 2 large egg whites)
  • 1/2 cup Laura Lynn Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2teaspoon Italian herbs, dried
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat.
  2. Mix all ingredients together by hand.
  3. Form meat mixture in approximate 1 inch balls and place on line baking sheet. Mine yielded 37 meatiers. Press each ball to flatten slightly.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes or until internal temperature is 165 degrees.
  5. Cool and store in covered container in the refrigerator. Serve occasionally as a treat to your happy hound.
